2019 Summer and Fall Seasons to Include Home Gardening Programs, Outdoor Concerts, Birdhouse Exhibition + Auction, and Autumn Family Fair
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — The Peconic Land Trust is pleased to announce its Summer & Fall 2019 season at Bridge Gardens, which is open daily all year round, with free admission. Donated to the Peconic Land Trust in 2008 by Jim Kilpatric and Harry Neyens, Bridgehampton’s hidden gem serves as a multi-purpose, multi-disciplinary outdoor classroom and community resource, with diverse program offerings and a Community Garden with 22 garden spaces.
“While all the seasons at the garden have their beauty, summer and fall is when the gardens are in full bloom,” says Garden Manager Rick Bogusch. The gardens include a 4-quadrant herb garden (culinary, medicinal, textile/dye and ornamental), water garden, perennial beds, specimen trees, creative hedges, between 50 and 75 varieties of roses, expansive demonstration vegetable garden, and community gardens all situated within a five acre park-like setting.
Highlights of the seasons’ programs include:
- Workshops on home vegetable gardening, low-impact landscape maintenance, and gardening advice all summer and fall; including Free Lawn Advice Tuesdays from 3:00 to 5:00 pm with Paul Wagner of Greener Pastures Organics starting on May 14;
- Our popular Fridays at Six Music in the Gardens with live music July 19 with Charles Certain and Friends and August 23 with Joe Hampton and the Kingpins;
- Fridays at Four, Tasting and Tour, scheduled on July 26 with Borghese Vineyards and August 30 with winery to be announced, featuring guided walks throughout the garden paired with local wine; and
- Watercolor workshops with local artist Barbara Thomas on Thursdays in July and August.
Special Events:
- The 2nd Annual Birdhouse Exhibition and Auction, opening on June 29 and featuring the work of over 35 local artists for visitors to bid on! The closing reception for the exhibition and auction will be on Saturday, August 17.
- Autumn Open House and Family Fair on Saturday, October 26 featuring nature-themed arts and crafts, scavenger hunt, demonstrations, and refreshments for all.
