Farms for the Future

We are happy to share the news that earlier this month we closed on the acquisition of a one-acre property in Eastport. At the closing, the Town of Southampton purchased the development rights on the property. The land will be put back into production and will forever be available for agriculture.

The property is located near our existing Raynor Dibble preserve – farmland acquired by the Trust in 2017 also in partnership with the Town that purchased its development rights. The 13.6 acre preserve includes 9.4 acres of farmland that are currently leased through our Farms for the Future Initiative. Both the preserve and new acquisition are part of what used to be the Raynor farm. Together, the properties preserve agricultural land for future generations.
