Let your voice be heard. New York State is now accepting comments on the Climate Action Council’s draft scoping plan. This plan will serve as a framework on how NY will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase renewable energy usage, and ensure climate justice.
The Council was created after the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (Climate Act) was signed into law in 2019. The Climate Act requires NY to reduce economy-wide greenhouse gas emissions 40 percent by 2030 and no less than 85 percent by 2050 from 1990 levels.
We encourage you to review the plan and submit your comments to the state. It’s important to have the Long Island perspective represented as the state moves forward on a more resilient outlook. All comments are due by the end of April.
