Recognizing the scenic and natural characteristics of the parcel, Mr. John Roe gifted the Trust 6 acres in October of 2007. The property now known as the Westmoreland Roe Preserve contains woodland, an artificial pond, and a small mowed patch of roadside lawn.

Prior to conservation, the property was at risk of being subdivided into 3 single-family residences. Thanks to Mr. Roe's gift, the community can enjoy the scenic vista that the preserve provides in this developed neighborhood.

Sites

For birdwatchers, New York State protected birds Northern flicker, American robin, Song sparrow and Barn swallow are known to visit the preserve. Plants to spot at the preserve include Fescue grass and Goldenrod.
