“Conservation means honoring and caring for the still wild, untouched areas of nature that exist on the East End. “- Eric and Hilary Woodward
Eric and Hilary Woodward were in their late twenties when their friend John Halsey introduced them to the idea of the Trust. “He had come up with this daring and wonderful idea for conserving the nature of our East End environment. We’ve supported John’s vision ever since. The Trust has been so successful in making ways to preserve land that we fully support its work without question.”
Since 2016, the Woodwards have been Peconic Partners, donating to the Trust through monthly gifts. They’ve chosen this method because, “monthly giving is very easy and automatic, we don’t have to think about it.” Helpful, when they’re busy out enjoying all the East End has to offer. “The East End has incredible natural resources in the bays, ocean, and woodlands for those who love to spend time outdoors. We go to the beach and canoe or kayak in the summer and hike in the winter.”
Their support helps the Trust maintain those resources on the East End. Please say hello if you see Eric and Hilary out on the trails or water!
We are thankful to Hilary and Eric Woodward for sharing their story with us. Monthly giving, like that of the Woodwards, gives the Trust a steady income needed to quickly adapt to changing conditions to protect and share natural resources on the East End.
