In March, The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation purchased 3.3 acres along Little Bay and Conscience Bay from the Peconic Land Trust. In 2020, the Trust worked with the Stell family to protect these three adjacent woodland parcels. This property adds to an existing 52-acre Conscience Bay-Little Bay State Tidal Wetland.

The goals of our conservation effort in this region are to protect against sea level rise and coastal erosion, aid in safeguarding the water quality of the local bays, protect wildlife habitat, and preservation of the rich local history as part of the American Revolution. The area is where the Culper Spy Ring originated and operated.
