Bridge Gardens Renovation Plans Receive a Design Award from AIA Peconic

AIA Peconic, the East End’s chapter of the American Institute of Architects, recognized outstanding design, sustainable architecture and adaptive reuse at the AIA Peconic Daniel J Rowen Memorial Design Awards. Nilay Oza AIA of Oza Sabbeth Architects received the Projects Unbuilt Juror Award for the Bridge Gardens Renovation plans. 

The Garden house, on the footprint of a former potato barn, will be renovated and reimagined as an educational and welcome center, coming to life as a truly public gathering place.

From the AIA Peconic: “The jury admired and appreciated the attention to the history of the cultural landscape. The adaptive reuse and transformation over time from a Potato Farm to a Residence now transformed into a proposed public, multi-purpose, community center with demonstration gardens and outdoor classroom that highlights and focuses the community on the history of Long Island’s working farms is a poignant form of architecture as a social art.”
