This Arbor Day — April 25 — think about planting a tree for the health of the planet. The benefits of trees are wide-ranging, including:
- Clean Air
- Oxygen Production
- Clean Water
- Carbon Sequestration
- Flood Control
- Wildlife Habitat
To learn more about the benefits of trees, visit the Arbor Day Foundation’s website.
Since 1983, with the support of many, the Trust has protected over 3,200 acres of woodland on Long Island. Many include hiking trails for you to explore.
Arbor Day is coming up. Celebrate by planting a tree (or TREES) this spring!
We asked Bridge Gardens’ Rick Bogusch for suggestions on native trees to plant on Long Island. A few to consider for your landscape:
- Red Oak
- Eastern Red Cedar
- White Pine
- American Holly
